A meeting of the board of directors of the Atascadero / Green Valley Watershed Council was held on May 30, 2009, at 345 Montgomery Drive in Sebastopol, beginning at 1:00 PM. Directors Jean Redus, John Roberts and Bob Burke were present. PRMD Notices. John presented a list of permit applications that are currently being considered by the County. He will now be regularly checking the PRMD's list for permit applications in our watershed. Inquiry by Resident. A resident of the watershed discussed some earth moving that has recently taken place near her residence. The work may have disturbed wildlife and disrupted the wintertime flow of water, but since it apparently wasn't near any year-round waterways or protected areas, there does not appear to be a basis for a complaint. School Map Project. Jean and John reported that the teachers contacted about posting maps of the watershed were very enthusiastic about receiving maps. It costs approximately $12 to print a map of sufficient size for use in a classroom, and there is a demand for approximately 150 maps. To raise the cost of approximately $1,800, Jean will draft a letter to the list serve seeking contributions. Farm Tours. The first farm tour of the season, part of an effort to expand contacts between the Council and the agriculture community within the watershed, will be held at Singing Frogs Farm on Saturday, June 6. The twenty available slots were very quickly filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Bob worked with Community Alliance with Family Farmers in publicizing the tour, and is working on a few more tours planned for later in the summer. Board Elections. The directors discussed potential candidates to add to the slate of directors for the upcoming election. The meeting adjourned at 2:45 Respectfully submitted, Bob Burke
